National Call-in Day

You can take action today by joining anti-hunger advocates across the country to send one clear message to Congress:

Keep our federal nutrition programs strong in the Farm Bill and ensure we don’t take away food from our children, seniors and veterans.

Currently, Congress is considering the future of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) as they look to reconcile the House and Senate version of the Farm Bills. The decisions they make during this process will impact how families struggling with hunger will be able to put food on the table.

The Feeding America network of 200 food banks and 60,000 community partners, including pantries and soup kitchens, are working together with anti-hunger advocates across the country to bring our voices to Washington DC and make sure the people we proudly serve can get the food they need to feed their families.

We need you to join us by calling 888-398-8702 and telling your congressional office:

  • I am a constituent and I stand with the Feeding America network of food banks.
  • Please protect SNAP – a critical program that helps millions of children, seniors, and veterans across the country – by supporting the Senate SNAP provisions of the Farm Bill.
  • Please increase TEFAP funding in the final Farm Bill so food banks can meet the demand for nutritious food in our communities.
  • I’m counting on [member name] to pass a strong Farm Bill that protects and strengthens federal nutrition programs and helps hungry communities in America.

SNAP puts food into the hands of nearly 42 million Americans, half of them under the age of 18. Making cuts to this program is simply cruel – and will leave our fellow Americans struggling to find their next meal. This food assistance program feeds 12 times as many people in America than the entire Feeding America network of 200 food banks that Second Harvest is part of.

TEFAP is a cornerstone program that provides nutritious food to the charitable food bank network. In fact, almost one in five meals distributed by all local hunger-relief agencies in 2016 was moved, stored, and served because of TEFAP. That’s four billion meals a year to families in need from the Feeding America network alone.

These federal nutrition programs are vital to helping hungry families put food on the table. We need your help to make sure they stay strong.

Make your voice heard for the families struggling with hunger today!
