Second Harvest North Central Food Bank opposes the proposed changes to the tax code that would double the standard deduction. This change would reduce incentives for charitable giving and result in a decrease of financial support from individual donors. In addition, Second Harvest is concerned that proposed tax cuts would result in a less funding for basic needs programs and would hurt children, the elderly, and families already struggling with hunger and poverty.
