Ways to Make a Financial Contribution

Help fight hunger by making a financial contribution to Second Harvest North Central Food Bank. Your cash contribution makes a real difference to people in north central Minnesota. Second Harvest North Central Food Bank meets standards set by the Charities Review Council Smart Givers Network.

One dollar donated to Second Harvest could provide up to four meals for people in need. Large quantities of wholesome but unsalable food are available to food banks. Your cash donations enable us to acquire and distribute millions of pounds of food to those in need. Help us keep good food from going to waste and provide hunger relief for thousands of people in north central Minnesota. Where else can one dollar do so much good? A $25 donation will go a long way toward ending hunger for a family, a senior, a child. Please consider one of the ways to make a financial contribution today.

Feeding Hope Monthly Giving Club

People who give automatic donations every month, are special friends of the food bank.  Their monthly gift provides food and hope to our hungry friends and neighbors with much-needed funds for operating support for hunger relief in north central Minnesota.

Become a monthly giver and help feed hope every month.  $15 could provide up to 60 meals for a hungry child, an elderly neighbor living on a fixed income or families and individuals trying to cover basic human needs.  There are two easy steps to ensure hungry families have food on the table month after month:

  1. Contact us for a monthly giving enrollment form.  Our enrollment form is easy to complete call us to have one emailed, faxed or mailed to you today.  (Your donation will be automatically deducted from your bank account)
  2. Schedule a monthly credit card donation through GiveMN
    Enjoy peace of mind knowing that your contribution is bringing wholesome meals to people throughout our service area.

Tribute Gifts

Making a “tribute” gift is a powerful way to honor a loved one or celebrate a special occasion while putting meals on the table for people who might otherwise go without food.

  1. Celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries or weddings.

Employer/Matching Gifts

Many companies have a matching gift program – you make a donation directly to Second Harvest North Central Food Bank or through your workplace giving program, and your employer will donate the same. Ask your employer today to find out if your company will match your gift.

Planned Giving

A planned gift to Second Harvest North Central Food Bank is best made with the counsel of one’s financial advisor, such as an attorney, accountant, banker, financial planner or insurance professional. The most common types of planned gifts are given through wills or retirement accounts; however there are many other alternatives.

Gift of Stocks

Gifting stocks that have increased in value, to avoid incurring capital gains if sold, provides tax advantages. Gifting stocks to Second Harvest can be as easy as completing our Gift of Stock Form and emailing or faxing it back to us.

If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to help those we serve and receive tax benefits in return. You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as Second Harvest North Central Food Bank without having to pay income taxes on the money.  It is wise to consult with your tax professionals if you are contemplating a charitable gift under the extended law.
